I am currently a Fashion Marketing student at Parson's the New School for Design in New York City. Among the many facets of fashion that interest me, I am particularly interested in the idea of sustainability as it applies to the fashion industry.
The purpose of this blog is to provide a medium in which I can investigate and explore the current and future state of eco-fashion. It is hoped that by sharing my findings and viewpoints with those that choose to read stylishly sustainable, that a higher level of general interest, concern and/or education on the subject will be achieved. While I am not claiming to be an expert on the issue, I hope that by continually educating myself on the topics surrounding fashion and sustainability, that I can become a more socially and environmentally conscious consumer and marketer.
Specific players in the industry appear to be making an attempt to move in a more sustainable and eco-conscious direction. While the debate on this relatively new phenomenon continues as to whether this movement is a fad* or a trend**, there are some fascinating companies taking part in supporting this cause. Whether green really is the new black, companies and consumers seem to be taking notice of this issue, and there is potential for exciting changes in the way we think about fashion and the environment.
Please feel free to contribute any thoughts or insights you wish to share along the way.
